About Kishore
Kishore, a 64 year ‘young’ horseman with a burning desire to promote the sport in the Country was born in a sindhi business family and started riding at the age of 8. Later he played Polo for the Madras Polo & Riders Club as well as the Officers Training School in the 1970s. Trained into Polo by the legendary Late Maharaj Prem Singh, Kishore is a winner of over 20 Cups in Polo and about 15 in Amateur Racing. Member of the winning team [OTS] of the famous Kolanka Cup, the largest cup in the world [6ft of silver] presented by the legendary Field Marshal Sam ‘Bahadur’ Mannekshaw in 1973 and the Prince of Berar Cup in Hyderabad among the many trophies won.
Active member of the organizing team for Polo in Chennai, he moved his attention to equestrian sport from the mid 80s. Life member of the Equestrian Federation of India, currently the Member –South on the Executive Committee of the Federation. Secretary of the South India Equestrian Federation. Set up the Madras Riding School in 1980s at the Madras Race Club and then moved to set up the Chennai Equestrian Academy in 1997. Organized the National and Junior National Equestrian Championships with CSI ‘Y’ internationals in Chennai 4 times.
Kishore is very proud that both his sons have taken to equestrian like ‘a fish to water’ and one even gets to play Polo while the other is a very efficient organizer of equestrian competitions. Wife Shobha is a keen equestrian enthusiast who was seen at all the competitions, encouraging the sons when they competed.
In his business career, Kishore was the first one to set up large scale Poultry farms in Tamil Nadu in 1973 and the first ever hatchery in the state in 1978. Now retired from active business, Kishore lives on his farm at Sholinganallur doing what he always dreamt of doing. Promoting the equestrian sport among the youngsters keeping alive to the suggestion of his mentor late Maharaj Prem Singh of “Catch them young”
