RULES FOR IDDL MONTHLY INTERNATIONAL QUALIFIERS
1. MONTHLY INTERNATIONAL QUALIFIER is a competition where the riders will compete in their local city under IDDL rules, the competition will be judged by a FEI Judge and a National Judge.
The riders are judged on the same tests within each participating zone and country – and the results will be compiled by category, internationally and by country/zone – and published on the dressageleague.com web site.
Each test is recorded via video camera and in case the FEI Judge is unable to travel to the local qualifier, he/she may judge the competition via the recording of the competition.
Electronic score sheets with comments are made available to each rider.
2. ENTRIES
Entries will be submitted via email, using the IDDL ENTRY FORM. No other fors for entries will not be accepted. Entries will have to include the Category, Test, FIRST & FAMILY NAME of the rider (no initials to be used), Nationality, Name of the horse, Club, Country or Zone and the Youtube link to the video.
Entries with only first or family name will not be accepted. No initials please!
Entries have to be submitted by the closing date of each qualifier, which is the last day of each month. Late entries will be included in the next month’s qualifier.
The rider will be representing the country whose passport he/she holds. In case of dual citizenship the rider can choose which country appears in his/her profile. However, the results will be accounted for the country or zone the rider competes in.
3. ENTRY FEES
Entry fees will be collected by the local organizer and submitted to the IDDL HQ. Entry fees can be found HERE. Entry fees are non-refundable.
4. ELIGIBILITY OF RIDERS
RIDERS Age will be considered as the year in which the riders turns that age from Jan 1st onwards.
For example: If a rider turns 11 on 30 Dec. 2016, his/her age will be considered as 11 from Jan 1st to December 31st, 2016 for IDDL events.
The minimum age to compete in equitation classes is 2 years
The minimum age to compete in dressage classes is 7 years
Riders under the age of 18 have to have the permission of the parent obtained by the local Organizer.
Young Rider 16 to 21 years
Junior Rider 14 to 18 years
U18 14 to 18 years
Children U14 12 to 14 years
Children U12 10 to 12 years
Children U10 7 to 10 years
Youth division riders can compete at their own age level and one level higher in the Youth and Open classes, for example U14 & Juniors, Juniors & Young Riders etc.
Open division riders can compete at two adjacent levels, for example Equitation & Intro, Intro & Preliminary, Preliminary & Elementary, etc.
5. ELIGIBILITY OF HORSES
To compete at IDDL the horse hast to be at least 5 years old. There is no grading of horses, a horse can compete in any class.
- DRESSAGE CLASSES In one qualifier a horse can compete maximum 5 times (in the same class with different riders or 5 times in different classes, provided the qualifier will take place over a min. of 2 days. A horse competing under more than 1 rider will not be allowed to warm up for more than 20 minutes per rider. A horse can compete in a max 3 dressage tests per day.
- EQUITATION CLASSES In one qualifier a horse can compete maximum 6 times. A horse competing under more than 1 rider will not be allowed to warm up for more than 10 minutes per rider.
6. CLUB HORSE CLASSES
Club horse classes will be open for horses that are used in riding school lessons and not exclusively ridden by specific riders. Rising trot is optional in all Club Horse Classes.
7. EQUIPMENT
Snaffle is mandatory up to Preliminary level.
Double bridle is optional for Elementary level and higher.
Spurs are optional for Equitation classes, all Children’s and U18 classes.
Whips up to 120 cm are allowed for all classes.
Stewards are responsible for checking the equipment before the rider enters the competition arena.
8. DRESS
Dressage Classes: according to Art. 427. A dark jacket, with helmet, white or off white breeches, stock or tie, gloves, dark riding boots and spurs must be worn.
For classes from Prix St-Georges level and higher, dark tail coat is permitted.
In extreme heat, judges may give the option not to wear a jacket. A white shirt with a collar is however compulsory.
Black gaiters or half leather chaps will be allowed for both adults and children. Likewise, hunting caps or jockey skulls with a black silk cover will also be allowed for both adults and children.
Equitation Classes: Smart training attire can be worn. However, for the highest mark for rider turnout, dressage competition attire (see above) must be worn.
9. THE COMPETITION
Startlist with start times for an IDDL monthly event has to be published by the local Organizer 2 days before the scheduled competition and shared with other Organizers and participants in the said Country or Zone
Start times have to adhered to.
The competition will be judged by one National Judge and one FEI judge. In case you do not have a contracted FEI judge to travel to the location, we can arrange one of our FEI judges to judge the competition remotely via video.
A local steward / IDDL official should should be present to ensure strict enforcement and compliance of IDDL rules.
10. COMPETITION VIDEO DISCLAIMER
It is the responsibility of the Organizer to ensure that the complete and correctly labeled video for the test is uploaded and the Youtube link has been correctly inserted into the entry form.
In case the competition video is not recorded, is incomplete, misplaced, oblique, corrupted or not judged on schedule, the rider has the following optionsa.
a. Refund of entry fees from the Organizer.
b. Option to re-record the test under competition conditions. The recording will be judged as a part of the current ongoing monthly qualifier, provided it is submitted as per the submission deadline. Videos submitted after the deadline will be included in the next qualifier.
Video can be taken only once and cannot be edited for picture or sound.
11. GRAND IDDL CHAMPION RANKINGS for the year
The Grand IDDL Champion rankings (year-end rankings) will be accumulated PER RIDER, per class.
A determined number of best results will count towards the Grand IDDL Champion rankings, depending on the total amount of qualifiers held in said year. For example, in 2018, out of 11 qualifiers, the 6 best results will count.
Please note that riders must have competed in minimum 6 qualifiers to be eligible for the IDDL Grand Champion Title in 2018.
12. OBJECTIONS & APPEALS
Appeals can be made if the rider’s results have been published incorrectly.
An appeal has to be submitted to the local Organizer with copies of the scoresheets in question.
Updates made in the results can result in changes in the rankings and are not subject to prior notice to other riders involved in said class.
A rider/coach can discuss only their own test with the judge. Tests of other riders can only be discussed at the judge’s discretion and upon the consent and presence of the rider whose test has to be discussed.
The scores given by a judge in competition cannot be appealed or debated with another judge.
13. CODE OF CONTACT AND WELFARE OF HORSES

The jury is empowered to disqualify any competitor at any stage of the competition for rough handling, brutality or any act of cruelty towards a horse.
14. DISQUALIFICATION / PENALTIES
As per current FEI Dressage Rules.
15. VETERINARY REQUIREMENTS
As per the requirements of the respective National rules where the competition takes place.
16. LOSS OR DAMAGE
The Organisers will accept no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury to any horse, rider, person or property arising directly or indirectly due to any cause, before, during and after the show. Insurance for riders and horses is strongly suggested.
17. RULE CHANGES AND ALTERATIONS
The IDDL Head Office may at any time alter/amend any of the above rules. For the crrent rules please check the IDDL web site dressageleague.com
